Tips to Keep Zoom Meeting Safe

Since the end of March 2020, Zoom users have been surprised by the news that their data was leaked and stolen by irresponsible hackers. Shortly after, some Zoom users interrupted during a video conference aka "Zoombombing".

Not a few end up stopping using Zoom. However, not a few users inevitably continue to use this application because of its ease and effectiveness. After all, the office already pays rent for a premium account, the reason.

If you're one of those users who (inevitably) still uses Zoom, there are a few tips you can do to avoid hacking.

For users:

  • Keep the Zoom app up to date on both YOUR PC and mobile.
  • Do not match zoom passwords to passwords for other accounts.
  • Use a paid antivirus for your computer (recommended: BitFender Total Security in Tokopedia).
  • Take a good look at Zoom's official website, which is "zoom.us". Do not download applications from zoom websites other than "zoom.us".
  • Do not turn on the camera or microphone if you do not need it.
  • Make sure you don't show information about your location when attending a meeting. If necessary, you can use the Virtual Background feature.

For hosts:

  • Always enable the password during meetings.
  • Turn on "Waiting Room" after setting the meeting schedule.
  • Turn off the "Remote Control" and "Remote Support" features in your account settings.
  • Disable Screen Sharing for participants if not needed
